The River Hill Room, our boutique private area, is nestled towards the rear of our pub overlooking our beautiful garden. It lends itself perfectly to all manner of occasions, with a private outside space attached so guests can spill out into one of our two gorgeous gardens.

The room can be hired free of charge and has a maximum capacity of 20 for seated dining, with a capacity of up to 30 for more social events. Need a bigger space? Our French-doors open up to either the garden, or our upper bar area to gather more of your friends, family or colleagues for that special occasion.

The room is perfect for meetings, small wedding receptions or any kind of event.

My family & I love spending time at The Bear welcoming a weekend in on Friday night, or drawing close to the weekend on Sunday afternoon. Matt, Izzy, Joe and team have created a wonderful pub, where we have had many celebrations also! Most recently my boyfriend’s 29th surprise birthday drinks- where 35+ of us were hosted in the gorgeous function room, enjoying the night with lovely drinks, and many laughs. I hosted my wife’s 40th surprise birthday party here. The staff were amazing and really accommodating and the venue was fantastic really cozy at the front of the pub we had a section to ourselves and about 40 guests. The area went onto the patio at the back and get to go outside and get some fresh air and come back in dancing with a saxophone player. I’d really recommend if you want a cozy atmosphere and a team that will support you getting the cake ready the amount of food that you want and has reasonably priced food and drink. Thanks

We had a private function for 18 on a Saturday night and the service was perfect. The food was delicious and all came out when we asked for it to (it was preordered for ease). Everyone was so surprised at how nice the room and decor was and the great selection of beers on tap too. We could not rate this highly enough and all round great experience to celebrate my 50th birthday!
